DESCRIPTION:Intro to Marbling – 4 Week Series with Cate Kuzik\nIn this workshop\, you’ll explore Ebru\, the ancient Turkish art of marbling. You’ll learn the preparation and equipment required\, some of the traditional marbling patterns\, and how to create them while discussing the various inks and paints used for each. Often described as “painting on water” Ebru is the traditional Turkish art of creating patterns by sprinkling and brushing pigments on the surface of a liquid and picking them up with paper or fabric\, creating uniquely colourful fluid art. \nAbout the Instructor:\nCate Kuzik or\, Ochre Lea is multidisciplinary studio with a love of colour\, traditional printmaking techniques and mechanical machinery. DESCRIPTION:Intro to Bookbinding: Japanese Stab Binding & Pamphlet Stitch Workshop with Shelly Banks\nStill looking for the perfect little book to quickly jot things down\, or can’t find a pretty enough watercolour travel book to get inspired by?  In this 3 hour class Shelly will take you step by step to learn two quick methods of bookbinding: the pamphlet book and the Japanese stab-bound book. The stab bound book is useful when dealing with heavier weight paper such as watercolour paper as it doesn’t require folding.  Pamphlet books are great for stuffing in a back pocket for notes\, keeping in your car\, and great for handmade little hostess gifts. \nAbout the Instructor:\nShelly is an award-winning coloured-pencil artist who also enjoys teaching indigo dyeing\, acrylic\, glass painting and how to make beeswax wraps. DESCRIPTION:Northern Lights Watercolour Landscape with Francis Marte\nDo you want to learn how to paint this Northern Lights in watercolour? The instructor will show you an easy method to paint this popular subject\, that almost paints itself\, using wet-on-wet free-flowing technique. The workshop will be done in three steps – painting the Northern Lights\, distant cityscape and the snow filled hay bales in the foreground. You will also learn how to use masking fluid\, splattering and the use of some gouache. \nWe will use several photo references that you can choose to your liking. The instructor will guide you step-by-step with demos and useful critiques so you can continue to paint these scenery on your future watercolour paintings! \nAbout the Instructor:\nFrancis Marte is a realistic watercolourist with years of professional experience. He has participated in various exhibits and has been featured in international watercolour publications. Francis possesses a strong sense of artistry\, consistently displayed in all his art pieces.
