SUMMARY:Fringe Theatre Presents: ᐋᒋᒧᐃᐧᐣ âcimowin
DESCRIPTION:ᐋᒋᒧᐃᐧᐣ âcimowin\, Fringe’s Winter Storytelling Series curated by MJ Belcourt\, is a celebration of Indigenous storytelling where the word âcimowin carries the essence of story in the Cree language. In the quiet of the season\, storytelling warms our spirits\, connecting us to our ancestors\, culture\, and community. As winter blankets the land\, our gathering holds special significance. We are joined by Elders who impart traditional wisdom; we hear stories and experience works in process created by Artists local to Treaty 6 and the Métis homeland; we connect in community\, in circle. \nThis evening will feature a welcome from MJ Belcourt\, stories from Elder Ekti Margaret Cardinal\, and three excerpts from new works by Indigenous creators: a story by Jacquelyn Cardinal\, Cousins by Sheldon Elter\, and Children of the Bear by Todd Houseman. Together\, these stories offer a powerful glimpse into emerging narratives\, inviting audiences to witness works in development and share in an intimate night of reflection\, creativity\, and connection. \nWhen: March 20-21\, 2026 at 7:30 PM\nWhere: Backstage Theatre\, 10330 84 Ave NW\nCost: $26 or Offer What You Will
