Two artists float against a background green and navy blue skyscrapers. One artist (on the left) is playing a violin with a green triangle over their face and the other (on the right) is dancing with a yellow circle over their face. They are surrounded by abstract shapes and the word Nextfest, handwritten in magenta pink lettering.
June 3, 2021 - June 13, 2021

More than 450 new and emerging artists are bringing 90+ works of art and creation to life at this year’s Nextfest. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Nextfest is back online for an 11-day digital celebration. From venues in and around Old Strathcona to the world wide web, Nextfest continues to cultivate the next generation of artists in Edmonton, Alberta.

You will find some of this year’s Nextfest programming in real life in Old Strathcona too. The Army & Navy building will host a curated selection of art in its Whyte Avenue storefront, and more visual art can be found at The Next Act Pub. The Old Strathcona Business Association is also proud to sponsor a new mural being painted at the Backstage Theatre.

The Nextfest Arts Company has been a platform for emerging artists, a meeting ground for community, a springboard for creative invention. Mentorship, inclusion, learning, creative risk, and vulnerability are at the core of everything we stand for.

We look forward to making District Whyte an area that is safe and enjoyable for everyone. Please follow all public health recommendations and be kind to one another.
