SkirtsAfire is back in Old Strathcona this March. SkirtsAfire is a 11-day theatre and multidisciplinary arts festival that empowers, develops, supports and showcases women.
They create space for artistic excellence to be cultivated, experienced and passed on. In conjunction with International Women’s Day (March 8), programming runs each March. Programming again includes theatre, music, dance, visual art, design, comedy, and more.
You can also catch Skirts On Whyte throughout the festival! Find four unique skirt designs created from upcycled materials at four Old Strathcona retail stores. This year, the designs will be on display at 3 Girls Swim & Wear, Gravity Pope Tailored Goods, Mars & Venus, and Village Goods.
Block 1912 is hosting The Key of Me – live music featuring singer-songwriters – on both weekends of the festival (March 4-5 and 10-11). Find out more about this and other performances in our post about JUNOfest.
On March 8 and 9, Chianti hosts a special Key of Me as part of “Her Night Out”, where festival-goers can enjoy a delicious meal accompanied by live music from a trio of performers, before heading to the Fringe Arts Barns or Gateway Theatre to catch a show.
