Exploring Old Strathcona’a Queer History: Edmonton Queer History Project Map
This summer, the Old Strathcona Business Association (OSBA) is proud to partner with the Edmonton Queer History Project to help launch the new Queer History Map for Old Strathcona. This is a powerful Initiative that shines a light on our districts rich and vibrant Queer history.
The walking map tour highlights over ten different landmarks throughout Old Strathcona that played a key role in shaping the districts Queer history. These stories allow you to better understand the roots of pride, resilience and community in our neighbourhood.
Thanks to this partnership, printed copies of the map are available for free at various participating businesses across Old Strathcona (listed below).
As the OSBA we are thrilled to support this initiative, making it more accessible for locals and visitors alike to explore Old Strathcona’s diverse history. Whether you’re a long-time resident or first time visitor, we invite you to pick up a copy, take a tour and connect with the stories that have helped define this district as a place of love, inclusivity, diversity and history!
