November 30, 2024 | 4-8 PM | Dr. Wilbert McIntyre Park & Area

Our free, family-friendly holiday light-up event returns to Old Strathcona next week! This year’s festival is better than ever, featuring our first-ever Winter Whyte Variety Show, light installations, rides on the Edmonton Streetcar’s Christmas Car, story time at the Edmonton Public Library, extended hours at the farmers’ market, and more!

Due to extra chilly weather in the forecast, we’re pivoting to a hybrid indoor/outdoor event. The Winter Whyte Variety Show must go on!… Indoors at the Fringe Theatre, from 4-8 PM.

A visit from Jack Frost can’t stop us! McIntyre Park will host beautiful lights, firepits, an OSBA Info Tent, and the Flying Canoe Volant tent and maple taffy station. Our indoor community partners venues, the Edmonton Public Library, Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market, and Fringe Grounds Lobby will be open with family-friendly activities, magical performances by roving entertainers, and community tables.

It’s going to be a fantastic evening full of festive cheer and community spirit! Reserve your tickets to the Winter Whyte Variety Show today to avoid missing out! Tickets are free or pay what you can, with funds supporting The Mustard Seed and Edmonton Food Bank.

Festive Fun at Winter Whyte Light Up

Lights

Watch as Dr. Wilbert McIntyre Park transforms into a wonderful array of light across the gazebo, trees, and pathways. Old Strathcona becomes a winter wonderland with the snap of a finger and sets the stage for a night to remember. New this year, we’re showcasing light installations by local artists in the park.

Activities

Winter Whyte Light Up features a variety of indoor and outdoor activities all evening. Due to extra chilly weather, you can enjoy our inaugural Winter Whyte Variety Show in the Westbury Theatre in the Fringe building, and take in magical performances by roving entertainers across the park, farmers’ market, library and Fringe. Our indoor partner venues Edmonton Public Library and The Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market will have free family-friendly activities, like crafts, story time, a photo booth, and more! Plus, the Edmonton Streetcar will be offering short rides (pending snow fall) on their beautifully decorated Christmas car from their main stop behind the Arts Barns!

Giveaways & Donations

Spin the wheel to win exclusive Old Strathcona merchandise or visit one of our partner tables, located inside the Fringe Grounds Lobby, to see what they have to offer. Don’t forget to stop at the maple taffy station at the Flying Canoe Volant tent outdoors in McIntyre Park.

As the holidays are the season of giving, the Edmonton Food Bank and The Mustard Seed will be joining us at this year’s festival, and collecting donations at their tables inside the Fringe Grounds Lobby.
