The Paint Spot Presents: Encaustic Painting Workshop

Join artist Erinn Evans for a fun and creative encaustic painting class! Learn the art of painting with melted hot wax to create a vibrant bee-inspired masterpiece to welcome spring. Perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike. Erinn will guide you through the basics of painting with encaustics, as well as several techniques for creating texture and pattern that will enable you to create your very own 10 x 10” encaustic painting of a bee on a colourful background to celebrate the return of spring! This class is perfect for those new to encaustics as well as those wanting to expand their knowledge on the subject.

About the Instructor: 

Erinn Evans is an encaustics artist working out of her home studio in Sherwood Park, Alberta. who has been working in encaustics for the past five years. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Education with a minor in Art and has previously taught for the Leduc Arts Foundry.

The Paint Spot will supply: 12×12″ cradled birch panel, encaustic medium, encaustic paint, patterned Washi papers (Chiyogami), masking tape, heat plates, heat guns, sculpting tools, paper towels, India ink, oil pigment sticks, brushes

Instructor will supply: Stencils, reference photos, vine charcoal, cooking spray, information handouts

You bring: 

  1. Washi papers of your choosing (optional)
  2. Reference image you may want to use
  3. Suitable art clothes, notebook, lunch, drink, and your own PPE (mask, hand sanitizer)

Most supplies are included in the supply fee.

When: Sunday, May 25th from 12:3-5:30 PM
Where: Artelier, 10045 81 Ave NW, Edmonton (back alley entrance)
Cost: $120 per person

Class limit is 10 students. Any skill level, including beginners, is welcome.

You will receive a 20% discount on all art supplies from your registration until the end of the class!
