Work the Runway on Whyte
August 17 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Thrift is thriving in Alberta, enabling Goodwill Industries of Alberta to make a difference, strengthening communities and lives, through the power of work and the dignity of a job.
On August 17, National Thrift Shop Day is celebrated across North America annually. To mark the occasion, Goodwill is hosting the first-ever Goodwill Fashion Show on Whyte Avenue in Old Strathcona from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. This outdoor event will take place in the Goodwill on Whyte parking lot at 10110 82 Ave NW. Models will be made up volunteers from Goodwill’s Career Connections program, a program specializing in finding work opportunities and job training for those with a disability. These models will “Work the Runway” showcasing a variety of styles from Canadian tuxedos to 80s vintage that can be found at your local thrift store. With a live DJ on-site, and North America’s longest running Fringe Festival taking place, Whyte Ave will be the place to be.
