Wander Whyte Avenue, up side streets and down back lanes to discover 70+ murals, graffiti walls, and street art. There’s no neighbourhood like Old Strathcona and you won’t find this art anywhere else in Edmonton.
Over the last few years, the Old Strathcona Business Association (OSBA) has commissioned and sponsored a number of artists and festivals to add art to walls throughout District Whyte. This includes Nextfest, Mural Massive and the street art festival Rust Magic. Every year, more and more murals pop up in the neighbourhood.
With so much to see, we had to create a map to help capture it all.
Our mural map is an illustrated guide to the multiple works of art found around Old Strathcona, and a few just outside the business district too. The map’s permanent home on our website will allow regular updates as new murals are added, with a digital listing refreshed in real-time.
Find your favourites, discover new art and artists and share it all with the world.
Be sure to tag us – @OldStrathcona – on all your social media sharing of murals in Old Strathcona too!
For a quick look at the murals, scroll through the list below. You can also download a PDF of the map to print for your walk around Whyte. And you can find print copies of the map at Grindstone Theatre, Leopold’s Tavern, The Paint Spot, Remedy Cafe, United Sport, Village Goods, Vivid Print, Warp 1 Comics and Games, the Metterra and Varscona Hotels, the EPL Strathcona branch, and the Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market on Saturdays.
We add murals to this page as they are painted throughout the year, and as new details are confirmed. Please drop us a note if you spot a new mural, one that seems to have disappeared or if you notice artist information needs an update.
The OSBA would like to thank Kim Fjordbotten and The Paint Spot for years of work to champion, sponsor, mentor and help bring not just this map but many of the murals around Old Strathcona to life.
Want to paint a mural? Or maybe you have a wall in Old Strathcona that could be the next great canvas. We are looking for both! Head over to our Mural Artist and Wall Request blog post for more details.
