A pet-friendly afternoon in Old Strathcona
Hello, fellow pet lovers! It’s finally that time of the year again. The 2nd Annual Pet Prowl is happening on Saturday, July 22nd, and we want you there! Mark your calendar because we are going to bring some pet-friendly fun to Old Strathcona. There will be music, prize wheels & swag for your four-legged friends, plus you can explore the pet friendly businesses in the neighbourhood while you’re at it.
Music & Mutts
We’ll be joined by Cosmopolitan Music Society for Music & Mutts, a dog park concert series!
Support animal rescue & service dog organizations in Edmonton, with performances beginning at 1pm!
“The Cosmopolitan Music Society is a nonprofit organization named for its original sponsor, The Cosmopolitan Club of Edmonton. Founded in 1962 by professional musician and conductor Harry Pinchin & collaborators, it has come to occupy a uniquely special role in Edmonton’s robust arts and cultural scene. The society, originally made up almost entirely of students, met in school gyms and community halls to rehearse long before band programs were made available across Alberta.
They continues to pride itself on helping music lovers become music makers by making music instruction and performance broadly accessible to the local community – regardless of skill level.“
On the Prowl at SouthBARK
And of course, we’ll be there too! Grab your furry friends and join the Old Strathcona Business Association in celebrating all things pet-friendly in the neighbourhood. Our summer ambassadors will be on location at SouthBARK from 12pm-4pm. Stop by our tent and spin the prize wheel for a chance to win some free swag (new dog bandanas this year!) or gift cards from local businesses & more. Whether you are going for a casual W-A-L-K or looking for something fun to do with your Saturday, we’d love to see you!

After all the fun you and your pets have make sure to check out our pet-friendly business map and see where you can eat, shop or hang out with your pets in tow! It’s patio season in Old Strathcona, and that means there are lots of patios with you and your furry friend’s name written on them.

We can’t guarantee other pets will be welcome at all businesses, but we saw more than just dogs last year! If you want to bring your pet snake, lizards, and of course cats we’d love to see them too.
