Recently, we heard from the owners of Healing Waters Spa which has been in the Old Strathcona / Whyte Avenue district for over 16 years. We were excited to learn more about the team behind one of Whyte Avenue’s long standing establishments!

Healing Waters Spa (HWS) is a boutique spa owned and operated by Emily Sommers, RMT. What originated as a Turkish Steam Bath, is now a fully developed esthetics spa offering waxing, pedicures, manicures, facials, body treatments and registered massage therapy. HWS has been nestled on 107th St. and 82nd Ave for over 16 years! In May 2019, Emily assumed ownership after working as an RMT at the location from 2012-2014. Her mission with the space is to provide a strong, women-led company that is a safe, welcoming and healing environment for all members of the community!

“As a boutique spa we know that bigger isn’t always better. With COVID-19 limiting large group gatherings, we feel like we have a new opportunity to shine. Never overcrowded or overrun, our spa is perfect for individual appointments or for groups of two. With a small staff of five, and 34 years of combined experience in the industry, we are committed to excellent one-on-one client care.”

The spa is also taking extraordinary measures to keep our community safe by implementing enhanced employee and client screening, increasing the use of PPE, staggering appointment times and scheduling additional time for proper cleaning and disinfecting of all treatment rooms and spaces.

Emily said it best, “Small business is built by generous voices.” If you have visited their location and loved your experience, please consider recommending Healing Waters Spa to a friend, colleague or loved one! And if you’re not ready to come in for a treatment, check out a variety of products and skin care lines available for purchase through their website. And gift cards are always available for a future visit!

Healing Waters Spa is open Tuesday-Friday 10am-7pm and Saturdays 10am-5pm and has 6 free parking stalls available for their clients convenience.
